I like this movie. The story keeps you interested and the acting is just wonderful.
Well, historical inaccuracies probably happen in most movies about war, you can't portray everything the way it really was - and if you want to have some sort of protagonist or hero in the film, there's likely to be a sort of perspective, "one-side-of-the-story" thing. But all in all, I really liked it.
Yes, it's not accurate historically. The Britisch are portrayed as Nazi's and the flagwaving is annoying........but it's entertaining, got some good setpieces and Gibson going crazy is always fun :-)
This movie is atrocious. It's so incredibly innacurate historically, that it's ridiculous. They go to far extremes changing history, to make the Americans seem like the good guys, and the British these evil monsters. It makes me sick.
Not realistic but deceiving. A fairy tale on war, this is what it is. War is gruesome, war is the worst thing that can happen on this world. It's never this romantic, never full of Instagram filtered scenes and so easily overcame losses.
I think the melodrama weighs down a lot of the film, if it wasn't a bit heavy handed I think the film improves drastically. The first act feels strong and weighty in a good way, especially with the scene of whether or not to support the Continental's efforts as a state. Once Martin joins up it devolves into a kind of straight action movie.
