   Cary Grant and Jean Arthur pair up a second time for this rather serious movie. Like so many of Grant's outings, the script is witty and his charm comes through well. Having two leading men is awkward at some points but in the end only serves to elevate the picture and you can really feel the camaraderie building between the two of them. Some good humor in there, too. It's a movie that touches seriously on our modern culture particularly with the manipulation of the mob to help cover up a crime and direct the attention elsewhere.
   
   

   I think part of me expected for the Professor to have to give up his pursuit of the Supreme Court in order to help Leopold (due to the ensuing scandal of his assistance to a fugitive). The film would have carried an incredible amount of weight if that'd been the case, but on the flip side I think audiences in '42 would have probably been appalled if a man's righteous pursuit of truth would have disqualified him from serving in the highest court of the land. Ironically, that alternate plotline would have probably fit better in today's culture in a dark, pessimistic sort of way.
