I love Japanese cinema and I found the movie to be interesting, but unfortunatly overrated, especially compared to Kurosawa pictures from the same period. It looks pretty and the acting is good, but the plot unfolds too slowly and sprawls in too many directions, so it lost my interest after some time. However, the ending is very strong and I recommend watching it for the ending alone, but the first hour kind of dragged a bit in my opinion. 11 years 9 months ago
