   Used Cars is an energetic movie filled with laughs, creative ideas and good performances. It performed poorly at the box office at the time despite having many good qualities (though mixed reviews). Robert Zemeckis never disappoints from the director's chair while Kurt Russell never disappoints as the charismatic and likeable lead. The screenplay has plenty of good laughs which is always the bottom line in a comedy like this, but there are many other likeable aspects of this movie. Jack Warden shines in a dual role, Frank McRae is always interesting to watch, there are some gratuitous nudity, there are some excellent actions sequences like a well shot fist fight and the climactic mass of speeding cars with Kurt Russel's character jumping from one to the other and finally, there is a high degree of energy and good pacing. All in all a good package of cool 80s fun, and something of a hidden gem these days. 8 years 9 months ago
