A fun trip through a dream-scape filled with philosophical debate. Not an easy film, but an interesting one.

Pretentious means trying to do something you don't actually know how to, making yourself look better then you really are. This movie is actually intelligent. There's a difference.

I loved it. I've been hooked to the concept of lucid dreaming for a good while now, and I liked the philosophical questions that came up. Admittedly, I'm... kind of new to that way of thinking, or I mean that I haven't really thought about these kind of things seriously.

Only a couple of "discussions" didn't seem to fit, but apart from that it was fantastic. The visual style worked with the dream atmosphere, and the music was great too. Definitely see myself watching this many times over.

Not for one minute did the film come across as pretentious to me. If you engage with the film (and yes, that is at times difficult) it is intelligent and thought provoking throughout. Nowadays anything that attempts to be clever is labelled as 'pretentious', so I guess the film as a philosophical project, is doomed to that stereotype. But really, this is a very good watch - highly recommendable to anyone who's interested in philosophy and/or dreams.

Wow. Really wow.
One of the most exclusive movies i've ever seen.
"I go salsa-dancing with my confusion"...

Dream-within-a-dream and many other common ideas i was often thinking about.
Am i dreaming?
Or maybe i am dreaming that i am dreaming...?
//
I liked all those (irr)racional explanations i hearted in that film.
I liked philosophic thoughts.
And mostly what a loved about this film - it made me kinda play with my brains - thinkthinkthink, contemplate and ask, wonder and find no answer.
And think once more.
Masterpiece indeed.

Although I was somewhat lukewarm towards this film when i saw it, I still think about ideas I had while watching it from time to time almost a year later. Only now am I realizing how much of an impact it has had on me.

Not pretentious, but perfect for pretentious people who have no idea about anything but think they are intellectualists. For anyone really interested in philosophy or lucid dreaming it's like listening to obvious things for most of the time.

I agree with Alias, this is definitely not a pretentious movie.

The movie is a philosophical exploration of life and being alive (dreaming or awake).

Beginners guide to philosophy. Comparable to Thomas Nagel or Jostein Gaarder. The animation is quite interesting but the dialog is way to constructed at times.

I enjoyed the movie. Sometimes it got tiresome with opinion after opinion. Using the chimp was good symbolizing representing most of us don't have a clue, but are happy to spew our epiphanies. Best thing about lucid dreaming......is that you can always rewrite the ending even when your awake..

It's A movie formed with several short stories with an animation style.
It's Slacker in animation mode but with stories that bring more debate and several different visions and perspectives, mainly focussing in the subject of the dream.

This film freaked me out. Now I'm afraid of having lucid dreams (but I use to love them).
Anyway, great film. Especially the last third.
And shut up with all that pretentiousness. Or at least explain why you think it's pretentious.

Thorough, dreamlike coverage of philosophy. Blew my mind when I was a teenager.
