Like a hybrid of "Sunset Boulevard" and "Misery," but not as good as "Sunset Boulevard" and only ten million times better than "Misery."

Good movie. Overall a little slow moving but not boring in any way. What frustrated me about this film that made it good and not great was how easy it was for Jane to trick people and abuse her sister without people questioning anything. spoiler. But it is a minor issue for a good movie with great acting.

Glad I'm not alone in this Misery-Sunset thought.
But for me, nothing tops a crazed Kathy Bates. To each his own, I suppose.

With Sunset Boulevard being one of my all-time faves, it was impossible not to notice the similarities between the two films yet Baby Jane manages to stand on its own two feet. Davis and Crawford give their all in this one, the film is truly carried by their performances. It has almost the same emotional caliber of Sunset, yet hit me in a different way I think due to the family aspect. It's incredible how bold the two films are though. In such a strong way they take massive cannon-shots at everything that Hollywood culture was (and still is) and reveal how emotionally powerful a force like denial can be. Looking into these films is like taking a glimpse into the fractured human soul, and that is what's so powerful. The plot twist at the end was unexpected and radically changed the outlook of the film yet it certainly gave you more to think about after the credits rolled.

Nothing makes sense in this movie. How can she put up with an insane sister for 30 years?

Wow, intense! One of the most captivating psychological thrillers I've seen. Magnificent performances from the two leading ladies.

I see what Samoan means. Imagine you're a doctor and someone calls you and says spoiler and then spoiler surely you'd still come, cause something is up, even if you believe it

Magnificent! If Norma Desmond and Annie Wilkes were put together, this is what you'd end up more or less. Bette Davis was just fantastic. The bold steps taken with the makeup, clothing etc. It's very refreshing to see a Classic Hollywood-era leading lady go so far out of her element and portray something completely different.

I'm very taken aback by the boldness of the movie. I have more to say but words fail me at the moment.
