Pretty amazing aerial sequences considering when it was made. One of my favourite silent films I've seen so far.

Basically, I agree with CoffinDancr. The depictions of war and cinematography (and homoerotic undertones) were also great... but ultimately something fell flat. 7/10.

Wings will be released in the US on January 24, 2012 (DVD and Blu-Ray).

I rarely say this about films but this one felt really dated. Wellman tries to show up with techniques that weren't fully developed. Some works well, but for some theres a reason why we didn't see more of it, like the camera following the swing. At times it gets a bit too comedic for it's own... good and it's way too patriotic. The first half is entertaining enough, the second part is basically just a lot of shooting and explosions, the characters aren't all there either. Feels like a blockbuster no one should be giving much thought anymore.
