Wreck-It Ralph is a perfectly fine animated flick, trading on nostalgia for the days of video game arcades (which makes me wonder who it was made for, the parents or the kids), doing some world-building à la Toy Story, with at least SOME licensed game characters as supporting players, while all the leads are necessarily from fictional games that nonetheless feel like games we've seen (Ralph is his game's Donkey Kong, for example). We do spend a LOT of time in "Sugar Rush" though, to the point where the movie feels less like it's about an arcade universe than a world of candy. The theme is similarly muddled, because it seems to be about rejecting destiny, but then turns out that's what the villain is doing, and order is restored only when destiny is put back on track. I guess it's about accepting people's differences and not ostracizing them. Like I said, perfectly fine, even at times clever, like when it uses video game logic/aesthetics to tell its story, but not on the level of Disney or Pixar's best.
Inventive, funny, touching – I liked this a lot, and I'm not even a gamer! Not in the official 1001 book, though, but could very well qualify for my personal one.
Great music (like candy for your ears) and the world(s) created were quite enjoyable. I'll show this one to my son when he's old enough, but will his generation get any of the references?
Not as good as Brave (which I thought was one of Pixar's better movies in recent years), but has a surprisingly decent story. It felt more like a kid's version of Tron than a video game version of Toy Story. Sarah Silverman's jokes and her performance does get old but considering that the other girls in Sugar Rush sound like adults too, it's forgivable. I loved the references to old/retro games though.
Great movie for all audiences, and brilliant movie for gamers. I'm an old skool gamer so hey, I loved it! No surprise that my nieces (8 and 10) loved it as well.
Didn't really have high hopes for this, but ended up pleasantly surprised. I started out with a "meh" feeling about the concept, but by the end of it I had fallen madly in love with the characters and story. The plot arc may not be original, but the setting certainly was refreshing and interesting. As a gamer, I particularly loved the retro aspect. Well done, Disney!
A gamers dream come true. I think it'll be a few watches before I've spotted all the cameos, but the intermission on the Blu-ray helps.
I thought this was really funny and touching. I think people of all ages can find something to take away from this, even if it is just some cravings for sweets.
Great entertainment, but like previous people have mentioned: it didn't tap into all of the potential within these retro games. I absolutely loved the first part but the second just became the run of the mill disney/pixar story, which is good but not awesome.

I just happened to stumble upon this film, but being a gamer myself, I totally enjoyed it!ClassicLady
Not being a video game junkie, most of this movie was lost on me. It felt like a very crude children's cartoon.devilsadvocado
