   It was alright. The story was okay, nothing to write home about and all the familiar beats, but not bad.
   
   Spectacle wise it's some of the best in the genre. It kept the movie entertaining because the spectacle kept topping itself. Although I did notice the CGI does not always look very good.

   Superhero movies have been way too indifferent towards mass-destruction for way too long, but this film takes it to another level. It couldn't come at a worse time either, with movies such as Civil War and even Batman v Superman finally starting to deal with the consequences of this scale of destruction (albeit in an oversimplified manner), which leaves Singer's approach here feeling like a relic from another era, which is perhaps fitting given the nature of his supervillain. The lack of any emotional involvement or consequences to the cataclysmic events of Apocalypse result in a film resembling such extreme and vacuous destruction porn that it would make even Roland Emmerich blush. 7 years 10 months ago
