sorry, relies way to heavily on 'looks dead but isn't' trope - over and over and ... imagine if 20% of Freddy's or Jason's 'victims' got back up and fought on.
An above average production with a magnificent cast marred by poor cinematographic choices and poorer production values (probably due to this being filmed for TV and not cinema) and the excesses of late 60s over-editing. Also, it's doubtful a good print was available to scan whatever made it on to the DVD. At times, feels like it was assembled from the bits and pieces they found lying about.
Still, bet you'd never thought you'd see
(or want to)
Judi Dench in pasties and a string of ivy.
They were all young.
Once.
Or maybe ...

That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
In addition to what @TomServo has said, this movie is an excellent view into how a community institution runs - from sorting materials for the all the branches to administrators talking about the upcoming budgeting cycle to patrons talking about concerns in their neighborhoods. Yes, it does seem a bit long, but there are easy places to hit pause and catch up with other parts of life that need attention. It's very easy to return to.
It's simply magnificent documentary film making and the fact that there is no narration, that the experience simply unfolds for the viewer to make of it as one will, is a testament to Wiseman's skill.
Quite impressive, just like the institution it memorializes.
More than anything, felt like a six-hour mini-series was edited down to a two-hour feature. Granted, given the genre, one doesn't expect a great deal of character development but here we get none while lurching from plot point to plot point. I'm sure some will like the action and clearly the naked chick keeps the guys interested but this really felt like a great premise wasted on bad movie making. I file this one under "wretched POS".
Bastard lovechild of Hollywood monster and Hong Kong chopsocky flicks raised by Euro costume drama. Seems to work for some, just not me. Took me three days to get through.
There wasn't quite enough clanking of armour for my taste - so little clanking made it almost impossible for me to believe these were actual 'kaniggets'.
yup, melodrama alright. no doubt about that. The story's a bit much to take, but it's fairly well produced and acted, but not totally unenjoyable if you like that heightened emotion of melodrama.
Robert's acting is simply brilliant! I can't believe he was snubbed by the academies given the solid, well-rounded performance. Any other actor would have been one dimensional is such a flat role, but he really showed what a serious actor can do. Mag-nificent!

I agree with Rohit, except, it's three hours of annoying.
Oh, then the song which basically repeats "India" over and over and over and over and over. And then there's the overacting and schmaltz. Oy vey!
