Nerdy males like to fantasize about women kicking ass, but they also don't like to look at women with the ugly stuff, like big muscles and thick bones, that logically allow fighters to give and take damage in the real word. So female action leads are almost always skinny and petite. Haywire is the first butt-kicking babe movie I've ever liked, because Steven Soderbergh recruited an actual MMA warrior princess. When Gina Carano takes down a dude, it's not Hollywood make believe: Gina Carano could actually take that dude down.

The movie cheated by making Ben Stiller's Awkward Nice Guy character (you know, the same one he plays in Every. Single. Movie.) screw-up with the documentary, giving Ryder an easy excuse to go for the sexy asshole. A more interesting movie would have not given her that excuse.

Is it weird that this came out about the same time as Wreck-It Ralph, and both movies featured a so-called "glitch" as a character?

I suppose it's an idea whose time has come.

Not good. It looks and feels like a Kirk Cameron bible movie, with some added "edgy" secular stuff inserted (soft core sex scenes, heresy). Without the supernatural ending, it could have at least pretended to be a character study, instead of a postmodern mess. (Religious people are more interesting subject matter than their myths. See, for example, Robert Duvall's 'The Apostle', which is a somewhat similar but far better movie.)

Almost uniformly ugly animation (especially the 3D), and a lazy story with elements that can be found in much superior anime.

If you want visual poetry and giant battle robots: Neon Genesis Evangelion.

If you want visual poetry and young romance: 5 Centimeters Per Second.

Another wistful sci-fi anime: The Place Promised in Our Early Days.

I kind of wanted this movie to go in a different direction. Sixto should've been a millionaire with the units he was moving in South Africa. *Someone* got very rich off of this guys music. Either it was Clarence Avant, someone at Buddah Records, or some South African record company, but the real investigation isn't over.

Avant may be innocent, but he came off very poorly in the movie.

I'm not seeing Alone in the Dark anywhere, but the weighted dislikes should easily put it at the top of the list.

Someone finally put together an icheck Most Disliked movie list!

Same method as this list, but with dislikes instead of likes.

Decent movie, but at no point did I find the defense's case even the least bit convincing.

Maybe that was intentional. It seems like the final scene was poetic justice for freeing a criminal.

I am pleased to be the fourth person to favorite this out of 100,000+ members.

Trent Reznor put the official version up at Pirate Bay under the name seed0.

Very first scene:

”1858, 2 years before the Civil War.”

Jeeeesus. Quentin Tarantino dropped out of high school at age 15. It shows. Only a genius can be this dumb and still win the Academy Award for writing. He's like the Forrest Gump of directors.

Who is that little boy in the flashbacks supposed to be? When Margot was 12, Alexandre would have really been like 30 years old. Wait... I think I understand the title now.

TELL NO ONE.

How is it even possible that two movies that are so similar in the tiniest details were made independently of each other's influence? It doesn't make sense.

http://untitledfilmblog.tumblr.com/post/25587989901/nerds-dredd-isnt-a-ripoff-of-the-raid-relax

Dredd was decent, but The Raid was better. American movies are larded down by butt-kicking babes and multiracial gangs. It would be offensive to have Dredd taking down too many blacks and Hispanics, so they had to change the face of both poverty and future US demographics (which is offensive in its own way). Maybe they could have gotten around this by just making Dredd black; fighting his way through the Burj Dubai version of Cabrini–Green.

This movie seems to be confused. 38 year old crazy, unemployed dudes, who live in their parent's attic do not get the love of 21 year old Jennifer Lawrences.

Just thought I'd clear that up.

Bad animation and adolescent writing. The DVD features a deleted scene ('Neverwhere Land') that is, ironically, much better than everything they left in the movie.

I don't want my awesome, beautiful corpse desecrated like this. Do not remove my clothes, much less my brain. Just wheel me directly into the cremation oven, and call it a day.

Underrated. Lots of dynamic, innovative film-making going on here.

I checked out the Cult Canon article after watching the movie, and it has clips from the two scenes that probably also most wowed me.

I can't wait for the deleted scenes where the world's top make-up and CGI artists try and fail to make Keith David look like a white person.

The ending was a little like Usual Suspects. If you are an introvert, or love shy, or even like The Smiths, it's probably because you were molested as a child.

I love when it starts going really crazy in the last 10 minutes. Disney invented the psychedelic freak-out during the 1940s (see also "Pink Elephants on Parade").

You should add Adam Rikfin's 'Look' (2007).
