I am a huge fan of American, English, Japanese and Italian cinema. Even more than the Indian cinema. But some good movies like this one go under-appreciated because of a stupid song-dance image of Bollywood.
This is a great movie. I was missing it on iCheck. Its sad though that many people don't like Indian, Russian, etc. movies because of the cultural differences.
If it helps, in India, the way people communicate with each other or express their emotions is very different from the way Americans and Europeans do. Keep that in mind when watching these movies. These people are not over-acting or melodramatic. That's how the culture is.
Yojimbo, I don't think you can count it as a flaw. He does that intentionally. That's what he likes. I think its more appropriate to call it his style.
The reason this movie is not on any other lists is because of less number of votes on IMDb. It is a very good movie. Touching, inspirational, patriotic and funny at the same time.
This movie is from the director of Academy Award nominated movie 'Lagaan' (which is counted in top 10 bollywood movies and top 10 sports movies of all times). The only problem with his movies is the length.
