Very good although I think the pacing and narrative was flagging after the hour mark which lowered the engagement

Fascinating. Didn't say real events but presume so. Low key, great writing and direction. Torn to a rating ~7-10

Very good, naturally comparisons to similar, at least eight are better but the acting and dialogue was great. The soundtrack was OP though

I forgot to check this! I was amazed! 9/10 I have read the script too. Bradley Cooper had a big hand in the pacing, editing and direction of this. It is more than The King of Comedy, Mean Streets et al

The HQ was the Cheesegrater in London. I worked in the building next to it!

Very good. Watched it because of The Lives of Others. If you like that, you're in for a treat. Not as good mind. However, enjoyable.

Great until the end whereby there are lots of interpretations as to what spoiler

Czechs's recommended it to me. I felt the ending was too sudden and should have had 5-20 minutes of bittersweet drama, felt edited out something cut

Great intro and ending. The short stories are nearly all too short, only the second story gelled well. I thought the costumes were great to allow the actors to play the other roles, but the actress a particularly after the shot when she states she's 18 lent me to wish they had different actors for each story. 7/10

The trailer summed it up well for me and I was worried that would be what would transpire. The class element was well done but I felt the sum didn't equal the parts in this one. It didn't fully gel for me. I was going to give it a 5, considered a 6 (a good film (but compared to what I've seen think I'll stick with a five). Looking forward to Parasite. The acting was good, the characters fair, but only the lead had much of a backstory, the background to the whole film/it's story and how it was slowly revealed was a bit like Citizen Kane. I had seen a later film Train to Busan a few months earlier. The Raid carries the moving scenery idea better (happened to be at a premiere Q&A with the director) and whilst it doesn't reference race, I felt I've experienced other films that have handled it better. (Kudos that the race point wasn't overstated). Their reaction to the protein bars revelation was ott. Not certain if I was convinced by Chris Evans in this, I felt I needed to see more stature, midshot expressions. Tilda was incredible. Lastly, the deaths, too many 'recovered'.

I knew of the impeachment. Definitely a divided film. Is there a suggestion both parties are guilty? Moro too powerful and Lulu made a mistake regarding the apartment? I would imagine you favour one side over the other?

Great origins story but why say "Christmas" with no reference to Christ, I'm not religious but I think 'festive' would be better

Nose bleed. Prior watchings of this (including on TV), he has a nosebleed in the vent shaft. Last night it was a clean nose/filtrum, yet the film rating (film was on Sky cinema, listed a 15).

Separately, Fox confirmed this is a Christmas movie

Watched again 2022 and December 2023

Great visuals and depth of story. I still felt it was overly long though despite the moderate run time. 8/10

I was also going to say Flawless but a decent character study and development. The plot isn't what you may expect. It's not a cop movie, simply about a cop. Excellent performances by de Niro and Hoffman. The minor characters and the script were well done by writer/director Joel Schumacher (he is 80 now!). Decent two hour+ film with decent antagonists and great dialogue. Nice gem on Netflix (where I am struggling - Amazon seems to have what I am yet to see!). 8/10

Tight but thin-ish. Enjoyed the pace, theme, setting, dialogue and acting, there were some decent plot points. 7/10 film noir is one of my favourite genres, The Big Heat my favourite.

It tries to create the feel, great effort, but the story, partially, and the fit doesn't quick click. Obviously I am no longer a child and not sure how to improve it. I think deeper characterisation would have been fascinated. Instead of immersion, they went for looks/visuals, not inviting me in.

Star wars meets red planet meets mission Impossible meets Passengers (not out but in development) meets 2001 meets two others. Slightly confusing and ultimately 4/10
