I saw it without any subs at all in original Greek. I did not understand much, but after having read about the film om Wikipedia I could rather much guess the most of the rest.
I loved the music, but otherwise quite boring. The parts in the abandoned village was the most interesting parts. A bit strange film with the repetetive dialogues - why?
I'm pretty sure of. That. In its time. It was quite awesome.
But in spite of that I love classic music, this was boring to watch.
And it was definetily not entirely in pace with the music...!!
This was the one that won the Oscar before Ruben Östlunds "The Square" in 2017... which I still think is better than this one, even though "Una mujer fantástica" takes on an important and up-to-date subject.
Beautifully filmed with the photo and the use of red. Good acting. But I found it, despite excellent lengths (about 1:28) at the time when you could "kill your darlings", small-scale. Beautiful and interesting environment similar to Fanny & Alexander.
According to Bergman himself this is his best film together with "Persona". Won 1 Oscar for best cinematography (Sven Nykvist)! On FLM's top list of the 130 best Swedish films in history.
If I had seen it on BD or 4K BD, which obviously you should since it's a clean CGI movie, it might have been rated higher. I find it somewhat messy in the plot here and there.
Really good, but could have been a bit shorter since they repeated several cuts in strange ways in the end (the vessels sinking angle varies up and down).
Hm, nice after all, that it was in color for once, a fiery, psychedelic nightclub dance on repeat. Not very entertaining. But I like the sound. And it wasn't too boring.

(9 minutes extra, totally 20 minutes but it seemes to be repeated moments. After 10:45 The End-text appears clearly. Enjoy! English sound, Spanish subs)
"De nådde färjan" in Swedish, "They reached the ferry" in English.
Quite entertaining.
This short movie is meant as a propaganda against fast driving. In 1948 there where no speed limits in Denmark (and only few motor vehicles) but it began to be a problem. The movie tells about a young couple driving on a motorbike to reach the ferry. But death is out after them, as a truck driver on the road. The question is if they will make the ferry, have an appointment with death or both?
Approved. Very many duplications that Charlie uses, quite boring. Not really my cup of tea.
Feels very experimental. As if the people around him really are there IRL, not as actors/extras.
Not on Brief Encounters list a year ago (autumn 2017), but now...!
Here is an 11 minute-version without sound, even though it feels as if after ca 6-7 minutes - they repeat the first minutes again...(?!):

Wow! Great. Really.
For me, the most precious moment of brief film history. So far.
This is for me the best film of this top list!
So cool, innovative, it makes sense, it's horrifying. All along the eleven minutes and three chapters exciting. In its simplicity: brilliant! No irony. Watch it!
I like the idea, but could be managed better. Exciting indeed, and unpredictable yet not. Better script and directing would help, plus one better actor or two?
Approved. Or actually quite good. For being made of Brakhage. :)
I watched it without being completely bored through all 32 minutes. Sometimes absurd and a bit groce (and sad) of course, since we follow some pathologists in their probably everyday work.
Only close-ups and only one face is seen.
But... is it supposed to be in total silence - without no sound what so ever?
A classic short film by Luis Bunuel found on 12 official film/movie top lists! About the poor region of Las Hurdes in western Spain in the mountains on the border towards Portugal. Interesting and horrible.
