This is a "performance" movie that was projected only once in Tallinn, Estonia.
From the former website of this event :
quote:
Flying in the face of the cynicism of marketing, production, business operators and the moral majority, a group of directors from all over the world came together to screen, once and once only, a collage film entitled 60 SECONDS OF SOLITUDE IN YEAR ZERO dedicated to preserving freedom of thought in cinema. The film will not be marketed or distributed in any way, shape or form, the copy will be destroyed.

Audiard dialogues full of old slang and funny punch lines, an aging Gabin, a young Delon, a casino heist and a great finale!
The heist itself is not as powerful as Rififi, but the rest makes it an absolute treat of a movie.
This entry and the IMDB entry it refers to is actually the one shot in Japan and released in 1897. It was sequence #734 in the Lumière catalogue.
marco_n65's link is correct.
The 1896 sequence in France (entry #89 in the catalogue) is this check.
This is really a moving experience. It has to raise something in your mind and make you question your life a little.
Also the large shots in the countryside or in the mountains are incredibly beautiful.
Hey this is a nice crime comedy in the end!
Five-stars casting and some good private jokes like the radio battle at the beginning (both songs are major hits from Johnny and Renaud respectively playing Daniel and Zero).
Also the scene in the hotel basement with Renaud, Johnny and Depardieu shooting like maniacs at the door is incredible! A bit of fan-service yes, but great shot still.
Totally liked it. :)
It's quite original that the beginning takes place on Jeju island in South-Korea. Afterwards, the japanese/korean thing adds an extra layer of complexity to some rivalries.
The rest is canonical yakuza movie by Kitano, in the vein of Outrage 1 and 2.
By the way, Matsushige Yutaka is quite cool in a detective role.
