I liked it, except for the female lead who starts almost every line of dialogue with "Steve". (Almost because a few substitute "Darling".) Usually "Oh, Steve..." My favorite is "Steve, Steve..." which is done more than once.
This seems like one of those films like Triumph of the Will and Birth of a Nation where I'm supposed to despise it for moral reasons. But it's a John Wayne picture. If I hate this then I have to hate Back to Bataan, The Fighting Seabees, Operation Pacific, Action in the North Atlantic and all those other propaganda war films. It's as old-fashioned and corny and fun as almost every other John Wayne film.
