We will never know all the possible interpretations of this movie. Those who think its over rated need many repeat watches to know its depth. I saw this for almost 10th time and now i got some clues that the whole movie might be a dream. That's what I call a great movie. It probably didn't get the best picture cause the academy members didn't get it like all those people who think it was over rated.
I think the cinematography was annoying. Washington was as usual awesome, but somehow it wasn't at par with his other flicks.
The plot was too too predictable, in fact I was praying it not be be as it was at he starting of the movie.
Also the ending was kind of misleading showing the Protagonist's life span. Don't know what was the point if it is a fictional movie.
Saying all that the movie still is quite watchable but 7.8 in IMDB is way overrated. Must be around 6.5-6.8.
The Indian judiciary as it is. nothing less nothing more.
The movie relies on long shots with still camera and some really realistic acting skills to nail it the original way.
It feels as if the characters don't even know there is a camera there for filming.
Surprisingly the movie is not about a court room drama.
It engages us with the court charter's daily routines and portraits the normality of their lives.
But it also takes on a sad perspective of the judiciary, where the people can be held responsible for most bizarre events and the prosecution and the defense can do what so ever to prove each other wrong.
Overall it original and new way of cinema and for that its a gem.

Just in case someone missed it, there is an epilogue in the movie where Dr. Mark Powell looks into the night stars through his telescope. Like he believes in the K-PAX version of the story. Well I do too... Just awesome..
The movie almost makes you believe its fascination that Max Schreck was indeed a Vampire, and if you have seen the 1922, Nosferatu, you would be more satisfied that he could have been.
Basically what this movie does is, it pays tribute to the most awesome and realistic vampire ever to dawn the cinema screen.

What a War Epic with no bullets. Couldn't imagine anything like this would ever be watchable. And what cinematography..!! Hail Roger Deakins.!!The burning Oil deposits & the oil drenched horse scenes were truly awesome.
Cool Soundtrack selection too...
