Some highs, some lows. Overall, not as boring as other movies but not particularly gripping either. If you're looking for dance sequences then this is the movie for you.
Im not sure why this is regarded as a film noir however it is a clever plot line that keeps you guessing. Not predictable at all. Great performances all round.
After reading that Clue was much better I started watching this movie with caution. However I am pleased to report that I loved this just as much as Clue! The nods towards classic detectives may fall on deaf ears to others but I thoroughly enjoyed Murder By Death and everything about it. Some very funny moments. If you like Clue and the detective movies of the 1930s and 40s then you will love Murder By Death!
This may be an interesting way to link modern with the classics. The musical numbers were cleverly done although quite silly at times. If the storyline had been a little classier or more typically 1930s then this would have been a much more enjoyable film.
No where near as good as the book it is based on. Without the essential narrative it was impossible to fully appreciate everything that was happening on screen. Great visual effects.
Very creative, most definitely ahead of its time. If you enjoy musicals then this is one to watch! Myrna Loy as Countess Valentine steals the show for me.
