One of the most powerful (war) movies I've ever seen. The last 30/40 minutes contains some of the best war scenes I've ever seen. When the film ended, I was in tears because of the horrors I just witnessed. It's like the film grabs you by the throat and never lets you go until the very end. Just thinking back of some scenes in this film already makes me teary-eyed. For me, that's the sign of a fantastic film.

Didn't expect much from it, as it seemed to be a so-called 'mafia'-film. I merely watched it because it was on the Drama-list. It actually turned out to be a great, well written comedy which make me laugh out loud quite a few times. I really enjoyed it and I don't have much to complain about. Solid stuff.

Judgment at Nuremberg contains some of the best acting I've ever seen on film. Maximilian Schell, Judy Garland and Montgomery Clift are all great, just to name a few.

The movie is very dialogue-oriented and besides the length of three hours I was never bored during it. The dialogues are not only great to listen to, but they're also very well filmed. For example, when a person in the witness stand is speaking, the camera pans around him. Another example: when a witness is speaking about someone inside the courtroom, the camera turns towards that person. These kind of tricks give the dialogues a lot of tension.

Judgment at Nuremberg makes you think a lot about justice, as if you're one of the judges on the trial there. How would you have decided? As for me, I'm still not sure how I would've decided...

Incredible movie that's entertaining and thought-provoking. It also stood the test of time really well. The film shows how horrific it was to be in a chain gang and it raises many questions about justice. It also contains many suspenseful scenes, like the escape attempts. The film is very fast-paced, Paul Muni's acting is great, and there are some neat editing tricks. The ending will probably haunt me for a long time. I really enjoyed this film and I was glued to the screen the entire time.

I normally don't like musicals, but I love this movie. When the film transforms from black/brown and white to technicolor it's jaw-dropping. This film is really colorful and that already makes it very enjoyable to watch. The characters are funny, the songs are catchy, the special effects are great and the ending almost had me in tears. A beautiful and very entertaining film that stood the test of time very well.

Why isn't Snatch on this list?

I don't get it either, Peeble. What I also don't get is why movies like Ran and The Searchers are on this list. The amount of action in those films is very minimal, if you ask me. But for the most part, I think it's a great list.

I'm glad to see Rififi enter the list. That film definitely deserves to be on it.

Amazing film, in my opinion it's Capra's best, after It's A Wonderful Life. Mr. Deeds is a great fast-paced romantic comedy with a lot of funny moments, but also a few emotional ones that made me teary-eyed. I especially love the 'echo'-scene and the scene in the courtroom. The film also has great acting (especially Gary Cooper) and a good message.

Another excellent Hitchcock movie. The Lady Vanishes is a fast-paced film with a great mix of comedy, suspense, mystery and romance. I really enjoyed this!

One of the best thrillers I've ever seen. The first 45 minutes are a bit slow, but it's meant as an introduction of the characters. After that the film kicks off and the suspense builds up continuously. There were moments in this film that had me gasping for air, it was that tense. The acting is very good and you can really feel the fear of the characters. This is definitely 'the best movie Hitchcock never made'.

A great, surprising film by the master of suspense. This is a more comedic film than his other work, though there is some good suspense near the end. The cinematography is beautiful and the situations the characters get in are funny, as is most of the dialogue. Really entertaining to watch, and it was refreshing to see Hitchcock try something different.

A lot of films suddenly seem to keep disappearing from this list. First 12 Angry Men, then Fight Club and now Se7en and The Departed! Why is this happening?

One of the best prison escape films I've ever seen. I never thought it would be so exciting to see a group of prisoners dig tunnels. The lack of music makes the film suspenseful and gives it a very realistic feel. I really had the feeling like I was there with the prisoners, and you really hope they succeed in digging the tunnel without the guards noticing. The ending was a shocker and I'm still in awe of it.

Fantastic thriller with phenomenal performances by Joan Crawford and especially Bette Davis, who plays a really creepy, insane and tragic character. Other than the acting, the film is beautifully shot, really suspenseful and contains many memorable scenes. The film is like a darker, more suspenseful version of Sunset Blvd.

A mixed bag, but it has its moments. I really like the shootouts and the scene with the train robbery, which is really suspenseful. The rest is kind of boring, though.

Cool movie that's somewhat similar to One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Paul Newman is really great in this prison drama which contains a lot of memorable (and mostly funny) scenes. I especially love the '50 eggs' scene.

Really sad and beautiful movie about a forbidden love. Great acting by Ledger and Gyllenhaal and beautiful cinematography and music. It's a pretty slow movie, but I loved every minute of it. Especially the ending was really emotional.

This is proof that a movie doesn't need to have a good story to be great. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is great entertainment from beginning to end, with beautiful cinematography and amazing performances by Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

Beautiful, but quite depressing movie about two guys trying to make their dreams come true. Great performances by Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman. Also a very interesting way of filming with flashbacks and hallucinations.

One of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. A very touching movie with a lot of sad and intense moments. You really feel along with Joseph Merrick, a person who was horribly disfigured. John Hurt and Anthony Hopkins give amazing performances as well.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but I really don't like this movie, I almost fell asleep during it. All this dialogue about 'family business' really irritated me, and I did not care for Michael Corleone one bit. Furthermore, I think this is visually one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Bad lighting and some scenes are so dark, literally. The only thing that was interesting for me were the parts with Robert DeNiro, but aside from that, boring as hell.

A very underrated movie with a great plot, great twists, a mysterious atmosphere and amazing performances by Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine. Definitely a movie more people need to see.

Ironically, for a movie about running, it's pretty slow. Running is one of my hobbies, so I was really interested in this one. The biggest problem for me is that the main characters weren't interesting at all. The scenes in which they actually run are the best parts of the movie, mainly because of the music by Vangelis. Not a bad film, but I can't say it's good either.
