It's not for everyone immersing the viewer in traditional Inuit folklore and lifestyle, and it's long clocking in at 172 minutes. I loved the story, and was amazed at the technical challenges overcome by the film makers. A stunning achievement shooting this film in the high arctic. I think its well deserving being voted in 2015 as the best Canadian film of all time by the once a decade TIFF film poll.
The film makers went to considerable expense to bring historical accuracy in every aspect of this movie, and it shows on the screen. Very deserving of its 10 Oscar noms and 2 wins in sound categories. Simply the best tall ship movie ever made.
