A charming, old movie my parents introduced me to :)
It's quite funny at times; I could do without the running story-telling commentary, don't really see the fun in that... but some scenes were really cute and funny. Burt Lancaster is hilarious :)
Story was okay, but far from great; more attention was paid to the visual effects than to character development.
But I went there for the visual impressions and those were truly spectacular! Wonderful creatures, cities and landscapes, great visual effects. Just for that it's worth watching it.
Absolutely horrible. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not the kind of person who watches old movies and complains about the visual effects; those aren't even the problem.
What really made this film unbearable for me was the horrid dialogue and some unreasonable or downright stupid actions of the protagonists.
In a way it was fun to watch because it seemed like a parody at times, though not intended. Not my kind of movie.
Just what I expected. An absolute visual joy... watched it in 3D and with surround sound... the animals and landscapes looked great.
I liked the fact that the well-known background music was used... but the scene with King Louie was my least favourite. Could've done without the singing and without Baloo trying to be funny.
Apart from that, though, it was really enjoyable. Not necessarily one to watch again but very nice.
Movie geek that I am, I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I only just saw this film for the very first time! Thought it was a movie you just had to watch at least once... and I didn't regret it.
Wonderful actors, fascinating faces and charisma. Director Sergio Leone really did amazing work here... loved how he uses silence to build the tension or create a mood. And of course the soundtrack by Ennio Morricone is absolutely beautiful. Very powerful and emotional.
Funny moments, great pictures, wonderful acting. I have a soft spot for Cheyenne in particular ;)
Don't know how often I'll rewatch it but it's definitely a must-see for anyone with a keen interest in movies.
I'm a bit torn. I appreciate the unusual concept of just one person alone in outer space basically all through the entire length of a movie. Interesting idea.
Somehow it still couldn't quite measure up to my expectations. The story was certainly okay but it didn't have the effect on me that I hoped it might... visually the film was beautiful but still somehow not quite what I had expected.
So it's a good movie with several great ideas... still, something was missing.
It is surprising, because I'm not the kind of person to avoid or dislike a movie because it's depressing or tough to watch. I've seen many such movies and some of them are among my favourites. I also enjoy lots of art films, smaller as well as bigger productions... no limits there.
On the plus side: Important topic of course, some great visual ideas and an absolutely stunning soundtrack. Incredible. The actors were amazing as well.
Still, something was missing for me. While I appreciated some of the movie's imagery and features, others were downright annoying. I also never really got the chance to actually connect with any of the characters, to feel for them or get involved. Again, I don't think it's the actors' fault.
So I get it, it's a big topic and there are some innovative ideas... but it was still not my kind of movie at all.
When they announced a new Star Trek movie I was very eager to see it - after the trailer I'd lost almost every interest.
The truth lies somewhere in between :) Movie was better than I expected after seeing the trailer... some visually appealing scenes and some funny ones. Was enjoyable enough for me to watch it once. Not sure I'll watch it again.
BB-8 was absolutely cute and hilarious, though! :)
Concerning the horror it was quite appealing... throughout most of the movie the horror was somewhat subtle and still powerful, despite lack of blood or anything; love it when it works like that. Towards the ending the scenes got a bit more intense and some of those weren't as great as the rest of the movie but it still didn't spoil the film for me.
The outstanding features of this movie however were for one thing the idea to basically make this movie consist of everything the two kids filmed, which gave the scenes and the movie as a whole a very unique feeling and greatly added to the humour within it - for another thing I was hugely impressed by the two young actors portraying the kids. Outstanding acting, whether the scenes were emotional, scary or funny. Hats off!
Oh yeah, and don't turn it off too soon. Last scene's hilarious :)
A lot better than I though it would be. Very entertaining! Jim Carrey was absolutely fantastic, so was Meryl Streep... and many others. Loved the kids, the little one was hilarious!
Visually fascinating and really, really funny!
Not so sure about the abrupt ending but other than that I'd absolutely recommend it!
Started out okay, and Jen Lawrence is wonderful, of course... but in the middle of it I kind of felt like the best part of the plot was already over, and I was right. Okay, but not great.
Despite all the star actors (some of which I really love) this isn't quite my movie. It had its moments, some cool thoughts and ideas but overall it was just a little pointless. At least that's the feeling that lingered.
The scene when Edie undresses in front of Carlos and asks him to see her as who she really is was one of the greatest moments of the entire series so far. Just loved it; so beautiful!
Loved Rex as the narrator. Tom trying to do something special for Lynette was so funny! And I loved how the guys got all bitchy during the poker game :)
