I recommend this to any film lover. Watch The Shining + Room 237 together. Also watch A Life in Pictures if you haven't seen it yet. Kubrick is a true genius and diving deeper to his world is always a great experience.

Overrated by american imdb mafia. Repeats every cliche of its genre. It has almost nothing above average.

I've just seen this movie and I very much enjoyed it. I normally hate sports movies, and I know nothing about baseball since I'm from Turkey (I've watched many Hollywood movies though, enough to learn that you hit a ball with a stick and run quickly to reach somewhere before something happens or something like that). But it was still very interesting for me. You can learn a lot from Pitt's performance about being a real man and how to deal with successes and failures in life.

All I expect from a new version:

1. Directors Directors Directors. Searching by the director name and seeing the name of the director on the movie's page.

2. More integration with 3rd party sites and apps. Better import/export capabilities. Maybe an API so that some developers can make cool applications using our icheckmovies data.

3. Comments facility is not useful at the moment. Having interactions with other users is very limited. It's not possible to see your previous comments, the latest comments on the site and if someone else has responded to one of your comments.

4. Badges can be more useful. Maybe one showing the movie posters of our last three checks can be added.

I hope the beta addresses these problems. Other than that the site and its design is perfect for me.

Best of NBC. I hope it can make it to the final 5 in Oscars.

I am disappointed. A bit overrated by English-American imdb mafia and American, British film academies. (or maybe its the Indian mafia again, I don't know)

A very good movie though. The overall message and the first half with English-Japanese commanders' power games was powerful. The ending was as expected, and there is nothing spacial with a sabotage plot in an average war movie. (and he falls right onto the detonator, oh come on)

I'm not a fan of David Lean and this was just another work of his that I am not impressed.

I had partly watched it before and for some reason had the idea that I can die without watching the rest of it. Well, thanks to icheckmovies's unchecked movies lists I returned from a big mistake. This was a real masterpiece and after four hours I still want to watch more of it. It was very surprising and informative for me to see how mature the cinema it has for a film of 1930s, a bit different from the films I've seen from the same years. Some scenes were so strong that it could easily be a 2011 release and we would call it a modern masterpiece. Glad to check it.

Sucks? Maybe. But according to what criteria?

It doesn't suck for a great portion of the Turkish audience.

Here is what I react. The only mafia in IMDB is the American mafia. Imdb or best film lists are full of tons of mediocre American films. And add this the promotion budgets and the distribution network of the Holywood studios. No room left for the world cinema.

There are no things as Turkish, Indian or Russian imdb mafia. Its just their true opinion. There are many Turkish films in the Imdb bottom 250 as well, some of them were box-office hits. I can say that the votes of the Turkish viewers reflect the choices of the average Turkish film lovers. The Bandit was never the critics' favorite, but is definitely the people's choice, with some reason. I think just in the same category with Shawshank Redemption in this sense.

Are you kidding Kasparius?

I'm not a big fan of this movie but this is considered as one of the best film of mainstream Turkish cinema. Turkish cinema industry was once very active and had a huge audience up the end of 60s. When we arrive 1990s however Turkish cinema was almost dead, thanks to the TV, holywood titles and the rise of sex comedies in 70s. Only few very low quality "art" films were being shot in this era. This movie started the revolution, and it's the real milestone in the history. Bringing together one of the best directors (yavuz turgul) and actors (?ener ?en) of the classical Turkish cinema, and a decent script it created a huge success. It was't a box-office film, nor and arthouse one, but became a great combination of artistic and commercial success. After this movie, producers started to invest on cinema titles again. Today, turkish film industry is producing hundreds of films every year and turkish films beat almost every holywood blockbuster in the box-office. Some of the talented directors make world-class films and welcomed in any international film festival. All because of the E?kiya.
Film itself is not a bad one when we watch today.
Yavuz Turgul is a high class cinema man, writer or director of some of the best Turkish classics. I think his latest film Hunting Season is much better than some of the new films we see on icheckmovies lists. And ?ener ?en is undoubtedly considered as the best Turkish actor ever. Was a great comedian and is much better in dramatic roles.

The film may not be for your taste, or you can find it a bit out-dated, or overrated. Maybe it all lost in translation. Maybe you find it too melodramatic. But you simply cannot deny the value this film has.

Wow! First class visual storytelling here. Full of cinematic surprises and I loved the editing. Definitely a top cinema work. Story itself was not that interesting but was well told and I found some scenes really scary.

I think this was shot using panasonic dvx100 dv camcorders which makes it an excellent example of low budget filmmaking. A great script and a very enjoyable film. Has very intelligent arguments on some philosophical questions. A definite must see if you think on religion/atheism.

I love this site but it lacks the most crucial element: the directors.

We should be able to
- see the name of the director in the film's page,
- list all the movies of a specific director and sort them according to the number of top list entries.

Currently the Internet is not very helpful when you want to find the most important films of a specific director at a glance. Comparing their imdb ratings is not enough. ICM has this information.

This is a good one. A strong film from such important names as Volker Schlöndorff and Günter Grass. I had watched it a while ago but still remember how stunning it was.

I cannot believe that this can be considered a top example of filmmaking after its 115 years of history.
