I mean, if you're reading this at all, you're a Jean Arthur completionist, in which case you should see this one! George Brent is totally forgettable, but Jean Arthur has a great schoolmarm-glasses-look going for half of this that she doesn't really don in other films from this period. For Jean Arthur fans, this is fun, but for the general audience...not so much.
Yaphet Kotto and Pam Grier are really great together in this, and it's full of a great mix of supporting actors like Scatman Crothers and Eartha Kitt.
There's also a weird shot where it's definitely suggested Pam Grier has a threesome with a senator and another rich dude, which only Pam Grier could pull off.
More relevant than ever, especially with Internet pitchfork armies now. The only thing indefensible is the hair; there are some pretty oily mullets in this.
Wow, that club scene. Could Michael Douglas stick out any more if he tried? "Don't mind me, I'm just a middle aged white dude in a gray v-neck sweater watching people do coke."
Amazing. I would recommend watching The Fog of War, also by Morris, first. It's about Bob McNamara, another former Secretary of Defense under Kennedy & Johnson. This works really well as a sequel.
Minor Huston, but really beautiful shots of Africa in Technicolor. Also, the elephant roaring sound is almost identical to the "TIE fighter passing" sound.
Pac-Man references aside, I really thought the sound was astounding. From the wiki: "McLaren created the soundtrack of the film by scratching the edge of the film, creating various blobs, lines, and triangles which the projector read as sound."
Perhaps I haven't explored enough experimental film, but I haven't really been introduced to that technique before. McLaren created an impressive soundtrack with no instruments; how cool is that?

Just watch Mad Max. This really feels like a bus and truck company version of Mad Max or something. Very bizarre.Movie comment on Friday Foster
