Underwhelming. I definitely came for the stellar cast, but left disappointed in the storyline which never took the time to explain enough. Reading the novel may have made things clearer through additional subtext, but as it stands I wouldn't recommend this.
Splendid Yuletide crudefest that is set apart from the past to iterations by it's substantially larger production value, seemingly non-stop gag factor, and overall, depicting a resonant, poignant tale about the nature of what it means to grow up and grow out of old habits. I can't wait to make it a usual holiday favorite.

Eerily reminiscent of A Woman Under the Influence, where the audience sees into the psyche of the main character, and through their eyes develops the world experienced in the film. The mood conveyed throughout suggests there's something more to what's going on, generating the intangible conflict which is Martha/Marcy May's persona. I feel like some people will feel like the rug was swept right from under them seeing the film, but through reflection I've already started to warmly receive the film. It's definitely among the arthouse set of 2011 films like Tree of Life and Another Earth, and will likely be in the Oscar running in the independent sect. I liked Elisabeth Olsen and John Hawkes in their roles.

This is the best Transformers movie. Incredible, though I hesitate to use that word, as it is the kind of word reserved for things which are not heavily flawed, as it is just this being a Transformers film and highly illogical. But it's this sense of retaining charm and being about what its about in true Bay-excessiveness, it succeeds in delivering the goods better than its predecessors.
