Verhoeff, please don't blame your inability to relate to the characters on being from Western Europe. I'm from Western Europe, too, and that didn't stop me from appreciating this film on every level, and that includes liking the characters. (I sincerely hope that didn't sound patronizing. Sorry if it did.)
The only people who could possibly find this mess of a movie good are stoners or those who aren't yet old enough to see it. I just don't see how swearing is funny.
If the film is only funny when you watch it while stoned, it's not a good film.
The best part of the film is the closing montage and that's saying something. Why do so many filmmakers seem incapable of making a bio-pic that doesn't completely trivialize the main subject of their film? Oh well, at least it's pretty to look at.
My least favorite Pixar film. While the first 30 minutes are breathtaking, the rest of the film is mostly running around a spaceship with a lot of silly visual gags.
