Really enjoyed it. Solid political thriller. Great performances by the entire cast. First half was a bit slow, but some great twists in the second half.
Absolutely hated it. As an aspiring screenwriter, I was actually offended by how atrocious the script was. There was no narrative, no dialogue. I'm all for postmodern conventions of cinema, but you can NEVER break fundamental rules of creating a movie such as having a freaking PLOT. The movie was not about anything. I'm usually very into this kind of existential stuff, but this was so pretentious and obnoxious. Tried way too desperately to be deep and meaningful and scarified any iota of plot, believability, credibility and not to mention entertainment in the process. Awful. Just awful. What a total waste of Sean Penn as well. He had what, two lines? Jesus.
On the positive aside, the visuals were stunning. Whoever played the wife was a standout with the unremarkable material she was given. And that's about it.
It was okay. Some of the dialogue was really awful and cringe-worthy, and it fell into the whole "let's explain what's happening as opposed to showing it" thing way too often. The opening credits were absolutely brilliant, however. Also wonderfully shot. It wasn't as good as it could have been, and it could have been about 40 minutes shorter, but it wasn't the worst movie ever.
I didn't like this movie at all. I'm a big fan of the franchise and this is the only movie I just cannot get into. But it was also my least favourite book, so, that could have had something to do with it.

Personally, between this and Deathy Hallows Part 1, I thought this was the best film.
