As for now, if you don't use iCM to keep track of all your checks, just consider it as a way to fill the database with movies that you will be able to use in creating your own top lists.
Now we can import any movie from IMDb, but we can't put them into any lists, other than the general "checked" list - but adding them won't do anything to our rankings (since only "official" movies count and they're already in the system).
So what's the rush to import movies? If you're importing movies to keep track of what you've seen, doesn't IMDb already do that for you? The only thing I see this do is boost your number of checked movies next to your name on the top of the page. While that may be nice, I don't really see the point.
I think this is a nice feature, but on its own it seems just a little gimmicky. I'm sure once iCM 2.0 goes live it'll be much more useful, since we'll be able to put those imported titles into personal lists and actually do something with all those imported movie titles.

We're moving from a centrally controlled website tot a user-controlled website, so in the near future you decide about lists, movies, groups, etc.
Right now, we just need to get that database filled with LOTS of movies, so thanks everyone for helping out :)
I agree that Video games shouldn't be imported. I'd agree with TV series and episodes too, but there's some stuff Imdb classifies as series episodes which are really TV movies, so I'm not as bothered.
DeathShrike, I think the reason some were imported automatically is that they've already been added by others. The ones that haven't don't get imported and you have to add them yourself. just put your MyMovies list url in the appropriate tab in Add new movies and I assume it should work.

I don't see any reason the line couldn't be drawn at movies (in fact, I'm confused by the TV Miniseries list). Also, approximately 700 films out of the 4100 I've seen, did not get imported automatically, and I haven't been able to figure out why those 700 in particular.

I used my votes from IMDb to import movies, but not all of them transferred, and I can't tell which ones or why, but the numbers don't add up. One film I found (and have added to the import queue) is Gamera 3 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0184503/). I had voted on it, but it didn't show up when I made my massive import. Theories?

There's no good reason to have every episode of of a TV series. It's adding a lot of pointless bulk to what was an otherwise simple and light system.DeathShrike
