I love this site but it lacks the most crucial element: the directors.
We should be able to
- see the name of the director in the film's page,
- list all the movies of a specific director and sort them according to the number of top list entries.
Currently the Internet is not very helpful when you want to find the most important films of a specific director at a glance. Comparing their imdb ratings is not enough. ICM has this information.
iCheckMovies already does that. You get "awards" when you've seen a certain number of movies on a list and you can set your account to connect to Twitter.
It is absurd to need a secondary social media site to participate in a social media site. Take our money buy jive or lithium or whatever and work on integration. Far more important than personal lists.
It's not too important, but I thought you should know that there are no ex-titles of TSP's top 1000. The reason why there are 13 more titles there is because some films listed as one title on the original list is considered as multiple films/short films by IMDb.
One of the first things I did upon signing up was request the David Thomson "Have You Seen" book list be added here.
I would be in favor of the TSPDT "ex" 1000. It's at least as interesting as having the BFI/Sight & Sound "historical" lists from the '50s 'til now. In fact, those Sight and Sound polls are TSPDT's largest single source when constructing their thousand(s).
We already have 13 "ex" TSPDT titles on our current list of 1,013 TSPDT "top 1,000." Wouldn't it be appropriate to keep that list current and at 1,000 titles? The IMDb top 250 manages to remain current and not go over its limit of 250.
Like Knaldskalle, I like the long lists, and would rather not see a bunch of new "awards" for lists of top ten this or that.
Top ten anything would belong more in the personal lists section, I would hope.

awful.

See? That's exactly why we need to be able to edit.

OIympia is in two parts on imdb, counted as one on TSPDT. (Just saw that one, btw, it's amazing!)I'll second (third? fourth?) the documentaries request, I feel like a complete rube in that area and could use a good list.
And editing would be nice as well as some sort of notification (but as an option, I need to be able to switch such a off as well)

@beeswaxOne of them is Dog Star Man, which IMDb counts as 5-6 short films.
I believe another one is Histoire(s) du cinéma which is 8 films.

My first preference for new lists would be for documentaries.@ intothewild
And yes to that.
Do you know of a good documentary list?

I'd like it if you could see your previous comments or get a notification if someone responds to you.@ intothewild
Yes to that, too.

@ CrindermanAh. Thanks for the explanation. Like The Dekalog, or something? (I think I'm still a bit confused, but I can always "go read the list.")
