I cannot set favourites/dislikes when importing lists from IMDB, i've try on Chrome and IE.
Anything I'm doing wrong?
(i've done that before lots of times, with success)
You should add some sort of equation where the imdb ratings of all your movies are checked and you get an average movie rating for all the movies you've seen.
I've donated before and will pay for extra features if the price is fair.
This is one of my favourite sites and I think it's fair that the developers who put a lot of time and money in it get some kind of compensation for it.
@everyone Thanks for the comments and critique. Please try keeping it civilized. We won't go into arguments about wether or not our payment model is fair or not, since we already made a decision about it.
You are free to join, you are free to leave. The most important thing to us is that most users are happy using the site, which they seem to be.
Theres so many films people want to see, so having retail links on each page wouldnt hurt. I'm sure many people would use them. I think the folks at this site definitely deserve to make revenue. So I'd use any methods available. As long as it doesnt mess with the quality of the ICM experience.
None of us have done anything that would remotely affect this site.
Ok, true. We have made two lists - most checked and most favorited. And yes theres a ranking system and a small recommendation department.
That's it. Nothing more. In fact, the site would stay pretty much exactly the same without us. We could all delete our accounts right now and the site would still be what it is. This is getting ridiculous. n20300, if you feel insulted by this then you should probably just leave. No offense, we all say dumb things, but that is just utterly out of the blue.
And the donation button has been sitting there for quite some time. It's obviously not working as well as it should. Do you really think going one on one with users asking for donations would work? Now that would actually be insulting.
If you were buying a product you would help the production, that's very true. However, you are just using a product for free. A product that does not need any of us to exist. This sites only way to make money is to do this. Ads would bring in next to nothing for a site for such a small culture as the avid film buffs.
I agree with LCWymer. The cries are utterly ridiculous. Everything you have now will be free. Why are you complaining? Why would people get scared and run? You are getting a free improvement and all you do is bitch?
Just a question though, will there be an option to sort the comments the other way? I like to read comments first to last, but right now I have to browse to the first page, read from bottom to top and then scroll back down to browse to the next comments page...

@ Erik and Piet. Don't be discouraged by the handful of naysayers, most of us here are very exited to see what you are cooking up.St. Gloede

You made this site what it is? Which parts exactly do you think you made?
If anyone has made this site what it is, it's Erik and Piet. The rest of us are just using it, not making it.

Any chance the 2.0 version will go up this year? Can't wait. I like this site. :-)St. Gloede
intothewild: Not all of 2.0 will cost money. We do not know what you can buy yet but we do know that at least some features will be free.St. Gloede
