Via ICM forum :"Gone from top 250: Harakiri, Come & See, High & Low, Le samourai, Throne of Blood, Memories of Murder, Tokyo Story, Nights of Cabiria, Kind Hearts & Coronets, Wages of Fear, Judgment at Nuremberg, Le grande illusion, The Best Years of Our Lives, Ikiru, Sunrise, The Battle of Algiers, Fanny & Alexander, Les Diaboliques, Sherlock Jr, Anatomy of a Murder, the Passion of Joan of Arc."
That's a HUGE jump. That said, I'm glad to see some favourites like Bringing Up Baby, His Girl Friday, Ed Wood etc back on the list. And funnily enough, I still have the exact same number of unwatched movies as I did before; they're just different ones!
So....now that the Top 250 has been shaken up and stirred around (it will only show up here on Monday, of course), would anyone be willing to share the new Top 500? The latest one I have, from early this year, will REALLY be out of date now!
@Knaldskalle There is one more difference: the top 250 only counts votes from "regular voters," and the top 1000 counts all voters. So you could calculate them yourself, and get a list very much like the top 250, but it would still technically be a different list. Your list would put more weight behind people who create accounts just to rate a movie a 10 or a 1.
Why would you pay so much attention to not agree with such a good movie choice. It would be rather dumb to pretend to hate a movie, just because a lot of people liked it.
OK, i'll explain it one more time: The IMDb Top 250 is a list of all IMDb's members favorite movies COMBINED. It is NOT necessarily the same as your personal top list. The more you agree with the top 250 the more ordinary you are. So make sure you disagree! (but keep it to yourself for crying out loud!)

Apparently, but I don't know if it's the definition of a regular voter, or if it's the minimum number of votes a movie has to have, or both.KatForsyth

BadSmile, they should ban any American film with a budget greater than $100 million too. Because that wouldn't be arbitrary at all, either.MandrewV

Because they're apparently not as good as american films? How many Bollywood films have you seen?stoduk
any IMDB Pro users fancy creating an IMDB bubbling under list? I'd certainly find that useful :)coral_ck
Oh wait, it's totally on there...that's odd when I used the search bar it didn't show up...oh well!coral_ck
Cannot wait until they add Hugo to this site. Best picture of 2011, for sure, or at least the best I saw this year in theaters.George Bailey
I think I love 95% of this list, so I won't complain :)Joschi

I'm just so tired of people going "where's this? Where's this?" like every movie they enjoy is SUPPOSED to be on here.I could probably think of 250 other films that deserve to be on this list, but aren't. Doesn't make it true.

No, KatForsyth, you're wrong. There are 1000 films on the top 250 :)Showing items 46 – 60 of 579
