Recent gender reversal movies reenact prior male dominated stories or themes from a female perspective. But movies that defy women's traditional roles can be traced back to the first half of the 20th century. I collect here some of those emblematic movies that deconstruct the usual subordinated roles of women in cinema. However, this is not a feminist list for one main reason: the recent gender flipping movies are not necessarialy feminist as they may reproduce manly values, like violence and physical force as well as reproducing established gender division.
