I wanted to love this film but I failed. I feel the clichéd story is just an excuse for the magnificent visuals and fantastic music... but I'm not sure those alone can make the movie.

Excellent and well-executed score. The story itself is a pastiche of the many great romances and musicals that Hollywood has already shone a light on. The dream sequence is poignant, but in my mind, still pales in comparison to Spike Lee's 25th Hour or the ultimate of all montages in Tornatore's Cinema Paradiso.

There are movies and there are masterpieces. This is the latter.

You can't help but be captivated by the sheer spectacle of Damien Chazelle's direction. You can't help but be enraptured with Justin Hurwitz's magnificent score. And you can't help but be utterly enamored with the unbridled chemistry of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.

This is a movie for the ages. And if you haven't yet, this is a movie you must see now.

it can be better, more deep in the topics it touch like modernization of music and the new age, the music is great and fresh that can make me forget about the bad way that took the script. it a film make for everyone that make people lost themself in the dancing, music, and colors

Absolutely charming. Loved it from start to finish! Great soundtrack, Emma Stone is amazing and Ryan Gosling is perfect in his role two. The chemistry between the two of them is probably the best between any two actors of this generation.
Visually stunning with a magnificent ending. Instant favorite!

This movie almost won an Oscar? The Academy has some questionable taste.

6+/10

The plus it gets for the sound and the visual look, but I thought it would be more musical and more wow-effect after its tribute and price rain (including 6 Oscar).

I liked the music (especially the jazz) and I love both Stone and Gosling, but the story was just meh for me.

Films like this are the reason the theater exists. Great film. IMHO, Emma Stone is a shoo-in for Best Actress...

I wanted this film to be so much more. I love Stone and Gosling and their chemistry in Crazy Stupid Love was undeniable. In La La Land I just didn't believe it.
I felt disappointed by the ending and must admit half way through I felt like it wouldn't bother me if I saw the end or not.
SPOILER There was barely a story line... two people fall in love then life gets in the way. How many times have we seen that???? SPOILER
I wanted the music to be catchier and the dancing to be less boring.

Beautiful! A great musical, they don't make movies like this anymore. I saw it an hour ago and I'm already listening to the (splendid) soundtrack.
I don't like romantic movies in general, but this one is special, I mean the acting is SUPERB (Emma Stone can really play whatever she wants), and the critics inside the movie about cinema in general is well placed. The cinematography remind me some of the Best of Tim Burton (Big Fish, Edward...) in the colors, and some scenes came directly from old musical movies, the nostalgic will like it as much as the romantics. Even the comedy was good and really funny. A must.
