TeaDrinker3000
Chazelle is a force to be reckoned with.Siskoid
Damien Chazelle made La La Land on the back of his success with Whiplash, and it's ambitious in a number of ways. An old-timey musical set (and indeed, released!) in the present day, long involved takes for practically every song and dance number, and an ending that's not what's expected... It succeeds on every level. Emma Stone is of course delectable in her role, but Ryan Gosling is extremely funny too, and the pair have undeniable chemistry. The songs are memorable. And as with Whiplash, there's a lot of jazz talk (Reynolds plays an old school jazz pianist), but the screenplay also conforms to jazz movements, especially the climax of the piece, which is, all at once, a means to communicate without speaking, a variation on a melody, a nice structural fake-out, and a way for the movie to have its cake and it eat too. A full entertainment that's shot up to the top of this year's list of best films.heat_
don't like musical movies, not a fan of romantic comedies but a fan of this movie. chazelle hits the bull's eye once again. superb execution almost on all of the aspects of the movie.muzzlehatch
Not just the best new film I've seen this year - one of the best of the decade so far, and the best musical in English since I-don't-know-when. Maybe the 1950s, honestly. Absolutely entrancing from start to finish, a magnificent mix of comedy and very real pathos.filmyjo
Saw this at the advanced screening for BFI London Film Festival.... The movie is beautiful with fine cinematography and superb acting from Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling..7.5/10.

Plot was good.. bt frankly speaking its a boring movie for me.. Acting done by both the lead actors was quite good.. highly rated.. 6/10.. i cant see it again or never recommend..DonCorleone1208
Only watch this if you enjoy musicals and don't mind people randomly starting to sing and tapdance and whatnot. I did mind, so not a fan.Candyrevolver
