Oh, and if the downvotes for gpace didn't already tell you: the movie has very little to do with Tarantino. It's very much on the dramatic side, "sense of place", more wise observations than pure comedy; fleshing out a few characters and telling us about the how of their lives, all that.
The difference between the two links posted by Ebbywebby and TreadwayNathan is much bigger than just frame speed. I came across both versions on the internet and about the whole first quarter of the movie differs. What happens in Ebby's rip at 18:00 is the beginning of Nathan's rip!
IMDb speaks of two alternate versions of 49 and 54 minutes length - might have something to do with censorship and/or restored sections.
Something everyone wants to have seen at some point, although it's not great.
Funny how much this short resembles an annoying prank sketch of Youtube (the way the tramp looks straight into the panning shot), more than other 1910s contemporaries do in my eyes.
What happened to Matthew Vaughn? This is kinda like Kingsman x Kick-Ass, only it sucks hard. The last half hour has a terrible scene after another and the movie just doesn't want to end.
btw, featuring Henry Cavill so prominently in the advertising - he's in the center of the poster, ffs - is almost criminal. What's his screentime, 5 minutes? Bryce Dallas Howard, on the other hand, is completely miscast as the lead. A shame wasting Bryan Cranston for this.
Starts out like dozens other crime noirs you have seen (with hard-boiled cops and crooks).
Suddenly becomes a film unlike any other noir you have seen.
Very enjoyable despite all the obvious flaws - Ray wanted some melodrama in this film very hard.
Absolutely harrowing experience, speaking as someone who hasn't seen Alive (1993) and only knew the basic outlines of the story.
It's a bit long maybe, but I guess that's very fair for a movie depicting the arduous struggle to survive.
Perfect Days was shot 60 years after Japanese director Yasujirô Ozu made his last film, An Autumn Afternoon (1962), in Tokyo. Wenders said, that it is "not a coincidence that our hero's name is Hirayama", which is the name of the main character in Ozu's last movie, too.
12000 Yen are about 85 dollars, in case you wondered.
